HMS Agincourt (S125)

The seventh and final Astute Class nuclear-powered submarine is due to enter the Royal Navy fleet imminently...

Role

In May 2018 it was announced that the Ministry of Defence had signed a £1.5 billion contract with BAE Systems for the seventh Astute Class hunter-killer submarine to be built in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

The submarine will be the 6th vessel in Royal Navy history to be named after the Battle of Agincourt of 1415, and as well as being a boost for the armed forces will be essential in supporting 8,000 BAE System‘s jobs at Barrow and further afield.

She is expected to enter service from her base at Faslane (HMNB Clyde) around 2024.
