The students were brought in to the Establishment by The Girls’ Network, a charity which supports teenage girls in the local area by providing them with a professional female mentor for a year and practical ongoing career advice.
The girls were briefed on Marine and Air Engineering Training at HMS Sultan and the many different roles being successfully performed by females across the RN and went to see women in the workplace at the Establishment’s Medical Centre, Sports and Recreation Centre and RN Police security section.
Fellow student Jasmine said: "I feel so proud to be female; those women we met are amazing."
Speaking about the visit and The Girls’ Network, Park Community School Teacher Janice Norman said: "How welcoming you are to us all..the comaraderie is tangible. It made me feel so proud of the British Navy and if I had my time again I definitely would join up! Thank you for an inspirational morning.”
It has really made me think about my future...I never for one minute realised the opportunities that were available in the Navy.

Visits like today allow the girls to see that there really are no boundaries to what they can achieve if they put their minds to it.”
