The visitors enjoyed a lunch party with Commander Nick Foster MBE, the Commanding Officer, and their liaison officers prior to enjoying a presentation from Junior members of the Ship’s Company and a tour of the Ship.
The visit was the perfect opportunity to reinvigorate a number of important relationships and to promote the work of the Ship, as well as the wider Royal Navy.
Carolyn Eadie, the Ship’s Sponsor; Philip and Lilian Downing, Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress to the City and County of Swansea, Scott’s affiliate City; and Mike and Sandra Williamson, Master and Consort to the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators all enjoyed a unique day onboard.
Also joining the key affiliates was Judy Skelton, author and Grand-daughter of Sir Reginald William Skelton KCB CBE DSO who served as the Chief Engineer and Official Photographer to the Discovery Expedition led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott.
Judy was very enthusiastic to see her Grandfather’s silver cigarette box, presented to the RN in 1938 and held onboard HMS Scott by the wardroom.

AB Davis said "It’s been a particular highlight during this maintenance period to speak to such important people and give them an insight into our daily routines and life onboard."
The visitors were then hosted to a tour of the Ship and afternoon tea before making their return journeys.
Commander Nick Foster MBE stated "With Scott routinely spending more than 8 months in a year deployed, these relationships with our affiliates are not only important links for us back to UK Society but allow us to highlighting the important work we undertake on behalf of the Government.“
