HMS Diamond arrives in Aberdeen

HMS Diamond arrives in Aberdeen
13 August 2018
Type 45 destroyer HMS Diamond is visiting Aberdeen for three days after she shadowed two Russian warships through the English Channel.

The Portsmouth-based destroyer is affiliated with the city of Aberdeen, and will take the opportunity to hold a reception on board for guests from the community.

Commander Ben Keith, the Commanding Officer of HMS Diamond, said: “HMS Diamond treasures its affiliation with the city of Aberdeen and we are thrilled to be visiting once again.

“We always receive a warm welcome from the local community here and this visit has been no different.

“We’ve been busy over the last few weeks fulfilling an important task in the defence of the UK, and this short stop means a lot to my ship’s company before we head back to sea and continue our duties.”
