We encourage anyone who knows inspiring women, men and teams to nominate them to recognise and celebrate outstanding people in Defence. Nominations can be from junior personnel for your seniors and we encourage nominations from all ranks and rates.
Nominations are direct via the Women in Defence website, and are for anyone you think should be recognised for their contribution to Defence.
The Awards, which are fully supported by the Royal Navy, are organised by the Women in Defence organisation, which promote the value of women in Defence, encouraging women to succeed and encourage talent at all levels to join the Defence sector.
Pippa Bennett, who won the Emerging Talent Award in 2017 for her work helping personnel injured with lower limb injuries in Iraq and Afghanistan, said:
“Of course winning is incredible, but to be nominated means that a colleague has noticed your contribution beyond the other members in your team, and that in itself is worth savouring. I encourage everyone to get involved.”
“Winning was a combination of disbelief and gratitude, not only to the individual who had nominated me, but to all those I work with that resulted in being nominated in the first place.
“Making a difference does not always mean headline grabbing changes, or sweeping reforms. If I was judging the category I’d be more impressed by individuals who demonstrate persistence and dedication, who realise that achievement often requires work and commitment beyond the normal requirements of our jobs, and who pursue their goals not for recognition but because it’s the right thing to do.”
