Fleet Air Arm preparations for this year's Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton International Air Day on Saturday 7 July 2018 are underway.

RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2018 ready for take-offFive hours of incredible flying displays and extensive static displays will feature an array of fast jets, helicopters, historic warbirds and an exclusive line up of international participants expected from 14 nations, the largest international involvement in nearly 20 years.

The Swordfish and Sea Fury, our rare naval heritage aircraft, will be quite a sight in the Somerset skies giving the crowds at Yeovilton a rare glance into naval history as they take centre stage once again.

To wet appetites the Sea Fury displayed today to the Media to show them what to expect on Air Day 2018.

Our modern-day counterparts, Wildcat HM2 and Wildcat AH will also be on show alongside Merlin Mk3i from Commando Helicopter Force based at RNAS Yeovilton.

This year the Commando Assault is back and although it will be on a smaller scale rest assured there will be plenty of pyrotechnics!

The sky above Yeovilton will come alive with the sound of seven stunning fast jet displays from seven different NATO countries, vibrant paint schemes and dazzling flares to enhance the crowd experience.

Never before seen in the UK the French Navy’s ‘Concardes Marine’ a combination display featuring modern frontline and rare classic aircraft flying in formation in a tribute to French naval aviation heritage before splitting into individual displays. 

Never seen in the UK before, it will include a pair of Rafales, Atlantique, Zéphyr and Paris aircraft with the potential of more being added.

On the ground there will be the chance to see the aircraft of today’s Fleet Air Arm up close and speak to the professional personnel who fly, maintain and support the Royal Navy’s frontline squadrons.

Over 100 years of naval aviation will be remembered with a selection of iconic aircraft, the Bristol Scout, Sea Harrier and many more!
