HMS Collingwood welcomes new Commanding Officer

Sailors and staff at HMS Collingwood have welcomed their new Commanding Officer, Captain Rob Vitali, to the Fareham establishment.

Captain Vitali has taken Command of the 200-acre site together with the wider aspects of the Maritime Warfare School (MWS).

His role encompasses the delivery of all Warfare and Weapon Engineering Training for Royal Navy Officers and Ratings and encompasses HMS Collingwood (Fareham), the Defence Diving School (Horsea Island), the Royal Navy School of Physical Training (HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth), Naval Military Training Schools (various sites in UK) and Phoenix Training Group (HMS Excellent, Portsmouth).

On assuming Command Captain Vitali said: “I am both privileged and excited to have taken command of HMS Collingwood and the Maritime Warfare School.

“Training and preparing our Sailors and Officers for a range of global maritime operations is a vital task and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
