The New Dreadnought Theatre at HMS Sultan saw its first official function recently as the Establishment welcomed the Chief Naval Engineer Officer Vice Admiral Simon Lister CB OBE to formally open the facility to start off the CNEO Conference.

The Dreadnought Theatre is a refurbished conference facility which has taken 18 months to develop and replaces the old Brunel Theatre.

It includes a modern presentation suite with three projector screens, theatre quality sound and new I.T. facilities. Boasting a fixed seating capacity for 305 guests, the facility also has additional space to safely uplift to 365 guests as required.

Captain Peter Towell, the Commanding Officer of HMS Sultan who invited Admiral Lister to perform the unveiling said:

“As the home of Marine and Air Engineering training within the Royal Navy’s we are delighted to welcome friends and colleagues from across the Engineering Branch, especially for such a prestigious event as the CNEO’s conference.”

“The new Dreadnought Theatre offers a massive leap forwards as a conference venue within the Establishment. My thanks go out to Lt Cdr Kim Mehta, Lt David Hancock and Lt Matt Stone who have worked tirelessly to ensure the Theatre provides us with a first class facility.”
