During the event each charity was presented with a donation from monies raised during the Establishment’s Open Day on 4 June.

Donations were made to:

The Rainbow Centre

This is one of the best parts of Open Day, presenting the money raised to worthy causes.

Also in attendance at the event were representatives from some of the Open Day’s Commercial sponsors, whose support make the event possible; Eight Wealth Management, Babcock International and Cobham.

Captain Andy Jordan, Commanding Officer, HMS Collingwood and the Maritime Warfare School, presented the cheques to the charities and said “Open Day is a great way for us to showcase our establishment to the local community and for us to interact with them.

“This is one of the best parts of Open Day, presenting the money raised to worthy causes. Of course the day wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors and it is great to see some of them here today.”

Present to receive donations were representatives from The Moving on Project and Sam’s Haven, both of which are annual charities of the Mayor of Fareham.

Project Manager for The Moving on Project Lynne Martin said on receiving their donation, “The demand for counselling has increased tremendously and this means that we can give counselling to so many more young people, this is wonderful.

This money will pay for the training and support for more counsellors.”

The Open Day is an annual event, this year attracting over 7,000 people, who enjoyed a variety of attractions in addition to the Field Gun Competition such as free funfair, tour of warship simulator and much more.
