Devonport charity bake-offf

Security staff at Devonport Navy Base in Plymouth staged a Macmillan Cancer Coffee Morning and baking competition to raise £350 for the charity.

Ministry of Defence staff colleagues Marie Scott, Jackie Rockett, Paul Courtenay and John Heath organised the event.

Donations of homemade cakes were sold and 15 raffle prizes awarded.

As part of the bake-off Captain of the Base Phil Waterhouse judged the 16 home-cooked cakes.  

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and raised a lot of money to this worthy cause.

Prize winners were 1st Alan Scanlon (from the MOD explosives group) for his carrot cake and tarte tatin with Chantilly cream, 2nd were some flapjacks and 3rd John Heath - fruit cake.

Jackie said: “A massive thank you to everyone who participated and raised a lot of money to this worthy cause.’’
