Popular sports and wellbeing event proves a hit with trainees

3 October 2016
HMS Sultan held its own Sports, Clubs & Well Being Fayre recently in order for students and staff to learn about the many exciting opportunities for extracurricular activities available to them.

Fencing, Football, Archery and Rowing were just some of the many sporting activities on offer as well as a number of clubs and societies which included the Establishment’s own theatre group and the HMS Sultan Super Sentinel steam lorry.

For ET ME (SM) Andrew Coates it was the first Fayre he had attended since joining Sultan.

It’s nice to know there are so many sports on offer, especially Judo, it’s really nice to see that the Navy are backing the sport.

Experienced in Judo, the event gave him an unexpected opportunity to get back into the sport and even take in some sparring.

He said:  “I am really enjoying being here, the event is really good. It’s nice to know there are so many sports on offer, especially Judo, it’s really nice to see that the Navy are backing the sport.”

In addition to Sports and Clubs, the event also provided advice on support and wellbeing, with finance, healthy eating and dental health among the many subjects covered.
