Forces families receive donation from superstore

27 May 2016
HMS Collingwood based charity, Forces Families Club (FFC), have received a donation of £200 from The ASDA Foundation.

The generous donation comes after the FFC were chosen to be a part of ASDA’s Green Token scheme in their Fareham store and ultimately received the majority of tokens, gaining a boost of support from the military community in the local area.

The cheque was presented to FFC Chairperson Catherine Miller and Vice Chairperson Anna Harrison by Fareham’s ASDA Community Champion Sharon Noble and Customer Trading Manager Chris Lockyer.

Catherine said of receiving the donation “It’s fantastic to receive support from our local ASDA store.

“We run purely on a volunteer basis, relying on donations and community support so the donation will be going towards some new equipment for our fitness sessions.

“We are now looking towards celebrating 40 years as an organisation by hosting a summer garden party in July.”

The FFC is based in HMS Collingwood and HMS Sultan, allowing members to take advantage of the brilliant Sports and Recreation Centre facilities available to Royal Navy personnel.

They are a non-profit organisation, run by and for the benefit of the partners and families of those serving in the military.

They host a weekly sports class timetable, a crèche facility for members with children, social events throughout the year and even provide a place for those who just want to be sociable with a coffee and a chat.
