Choir get baking on base

16 June 2016
Recently the Military Wives Choirs Committee (MWCC) held a bake sale in HMS Collingwood’s Chaplaincy to fundraise for an upcoming event.

Members of the MWCC invited the establishment’s personnel to attend the bake sale and make a donation in return for a treat. Treats on offer included; homemade brownies, fresh banana bread and sweet pastries.

The fundraising efforts of the MWCC will go towards transport and accommodation for the choir, after receiving an exclusive invitation to perform at a World War 1 commemorative event held at The Menin Gate Memorial in Leper, Belgium, this summer.

We are self-funded so any support is brilliant and we look forward to performing at Menin Gate in July.

Leuitenant Commander Marie Whitehouse

Leuitenant Commander Marie Whitehouse, Public Relations Executive for the MWCC, said of the event “It’s great to fundraise through events like this as everyone enjoys getting involved!

"We are self-funded so any support is brilliant and we look forward to performing at Menin Gate in July.”

With over 75 choirs the Military Wives Choirs provide a head-start for women in the military community to make new friends, make connections locally and learn new skills in a social and supportive environment.

In total, the cake sale contributed £300 towards the MWCC’s fundraising efforts.
