Chiefs receive Chief Naval Engineer Officer’s commendation

Chief Petty Officer Engineering Technicians (Weapon Engineering) Steve Riley and Tudor Jones were recently presented with a Commendation by Chief Naval Engineer Officer, Vice Admiral Simon Lister.
They received their commendations in recognition of their contribution into the development of ET(WE) Career Courses, as part of Programme Faraday.
Having been embedded within the Training Design teams since mid 2015, their experience and technical awareness provided much needed support to training design contractors, many of whom had little military or engineering awareness.
Their citation reads “Their proactive and pragmatic contribution to the Faraday design project led to a widely acknowledge improvement in design output and product quality.
Both Chiefs are highly effective and professional communicators and problem solvers, who have a passion to make Competence base engineering training as good as it possibly can be.
“Both Chiefs are highly effective and professional communicators and problem solvers, who have a passion to make Competence base engineering training as good as it possibly can be.
“More broadly both contributed to wider MWS activity whilst supporting the design contractor; which lead to them both working significantly more hours than the core week.”
Despite the work load and at times frustrations of the role they were tasked to perform, they both maintained a positive and professional approach.
Their indispensable support to pressured design teams was acknowledged by both RN and Babcock Senior Mangers.
Their contribution to the Faraday Programme ultimately meant that ET(WE)s are now being trained via new courses in HMS Collingwood.
