Escorted by Warrant Officer 1 Mark Branson, the Commanding Officer of the RNC, throughout, the Mayor inspected the guard, Cadets and Instructors on parade and presented a number of end of year awards, including a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
Key highlights from the evening saw 15 year old Petty Officer Cadet Alex Mansfield, presented the Unit’s own Senior Cadet of the Year award while 17 year old Chief Petty Officer Cadet Reuben Shilling, received the Portsmouth Area Volunteer Cadet Corp Field Gun Command Trophy on behalf of the Unit.
Warrant Officer 1 Mark Branson said: “This was the first time that we were able to welcome the Mayor of Gosport in to the Unit as our VIP, and the Cadets were really glowing with excitement when they heard she was coming.”

HMS Sultan RNC currently has around 60 cadets who enjoy regular Sports (Monday) and Naval General training (Thursday) evenings at their HQ based in Fort Grange Keep, which is located within HMS Sultan.
Now in its 37th year HMS Sultan RNC continues to take part in a number of activities within the local community, which includes attendance at local Commemorations and Parades, Inter Portsmouth Area Volunteer Cadet Corps sports competitions against the Royal Marines Portsmouth and HMS Collingwood.
The cadets also take part in major Field Gun competitions and Field Gun demonstrations in various locations.
In addition HMS Sultan RNC conducts Easter and Summer camps, Advancement and Survival camps, as well as ship visits and a plethora of other activities.
