Clyde Naval Base Oil Spill Exercise

HM Naval Base Clyde
5 February 2016
HM Naval Base Clyde is set to hold an oil spill contingency exercise on Tuesday, February 9, to test its planning and response.

Naval Base personnel will work alongside partner agencies throughout the day and members of the public may see some activity on the waters and shores of the Gareloch.

Queen’s Harbour Master Clyde, David Lightfoot, said: “As a responsible operator, HM Naval Base Clyde regularly works with other agencies to plan and practice its response to a variety of emergencies.

“While members of the public may see some activity in and around the Naval Base there is no cause for concern.”

Agencies attending the exercise will include: Serco Marine, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency and Clydeport.
