Role of the base
RM Tamar is a special place where 1 Assault Group Royal Marines live. It's also home to 539 Assault Squadron and 10 (Landing Craft) Training Squadron. The base has spots for big ships like Bulwark, Albion, and Ocean to dock.

RM Tamar is a special place for Royal Marines to get ready for important missions all over the world. They train there with different units and their headquarters. The base is right next to the spots where big ships for amphibious missions dock, like HMS Albion, HMS Bulwark, and HMS Ocean. Around 300 military people live there, and more come for training throughout the year, up to 132 at a time.
